Family Crest Pin

This pin was developed from a sketch provided by the client and represents a decorative jewelry interpretation of a family crest. The composition is built around a central shield with a monogram and additional heraldic elements, including a crown, swans, ribbons, a trophy cup, and ornamental accents. The piece uses a contrasting combination of warm gold tones and bright rhodium-plated details, visually separating the elements and emphasizing depth. With its many individual components, the final work appears rich, ceremonial, and highly distinctive.

Task

The task

The goal was to transform the client’s sketch into a fully developed three-dimensional model while preserving the character of the crest and adapting the composition for actual production. It was important to establish a clear hierarchy of elements, maintain readability in metal, plan the assembly of a multi-component construction, and achieve a strong visual contrast between the main surfaces and accent details.

Production

Production notes

The main elements of the piece were produced using machining processes. The central shield was manufactured separately and later soldered onto the main composition, allowing for more precise assembly and cleaner relief detailing. Selective rhodium plating with a rhodium pen was used to highlight specific details. Key production considerations included precise alignment of components, clean soldering, refined relief definition, and careful finishing of all transitions and decorative areas.
