Sea anemone ring

The design is centered around a large oval-cut stone held in a clean, open setting. The flowing lines of the shank transition into intersecting supports that gently embrace the stone, subtly recalling the unfolding tentacles of a sea anemone. This organic character gives the structure a distinctive identity while preserving its visual lightness. The open side profile emphasizes the stone’s volume and reveals the cut from multiple angles.

Task

The task

Develop a ring for a large oval-cut stone while maintaining both visual lightness and secure setting. The shank and setting had to be connected through smooth lines, with stable stone support and a design language suitable for a matching pair of earrings.

Production

Production notes

The stone is secured by four prongs and supported by a gallery rail. Intersecting elements beneath the stone reinforce the structure without making it appear heavy. The prongs, supports, and shank are proportioned with casting, stone setting, polishing, and everyday wear in mind.
