Titan ring with silver overlay

This ring concept is built around a combination of contrasting materials and finishes. The base is made of titanium, with the outer surface colored through anodizing and the inner surface additionally gilded. The upper decorative layer is a silver overlay featuring an organic openwork pattern that creates depth and an expressive play of light across the surface. The contrast between the cool-toned metal, the deep anodized titanium shade, and the warm gilded interior gives the piece a contemporary and visually layered character.

Task

The task

The goal was to design a ring with a distinctive multilayered structure combining a titanium base, a decorative silver overlay, and contrasting finishes on the interior and exterior surfaces. Special attention was given to the flow of the pattern, clarity of form, wearing comfort, and the visual transition between different materials.

Production

Production notes

The exterior color of the titanium is achieved through anodizing, an electrochemical process in which the color appears due to changes in the oxide layer under controlled voltage. The inner surface of the base is gilded to create contrast and add a warmer visual accent. The decorative silver overlay requires precise fitting to the titanium base, especially in areas with complex organic geometry and open spaces. Key production considerations include thickness control, accurate alignment, and clean final finishing.
